What can you drive with a Class F license?

A  Class F license lets you:

    • Drive a regular, non-school bus with seating for up to 24 passengers.
    • Drive vehicles covered by the G class license.

What Can You NOT Drive with a Class F license?

The Class F license does NOT permit you to:

    • Pull a trailer equipped with air brakes (see Class A training).
    • Drive a full-size tractor-trailer combination (see Class A training).
    • Drive a vehicle pulling a double-trailer (see Class A training).
    • Train another driver on a vehicle that requires full class A privileges to drive.
    • Drive smaller truck-trailer combinations (e.g. a pick-up truck pulling a recreational, horse, or utility trailer) (see Class A/R training).
    • Drive any truck exceeding 11,000 kilograms (24,000 lb) gross weight or registered gross weight (this includes fire trucks) (see Class D training).
    • Drive any truck and trailer combination exceeding a total gross weight of 11,000 kilograms (10,000 lb), but the towed vehicle does not exceed a total gross weight of 4,600 kilograms.
    • Drive a school bus with seating for more than 24 passengers (see Class B).
    • Drive a regular, non-school bus with seating for more than 24 passengers (see Class C training).
    • Drive a school bus with seating for up to 24 passengers (see Class E training).

What are the requirements to obtain the Class F license in Ontario?

To be eligible for the Class F license, you must:

    • Be at least 18 years old.
    • Hold a valid Ontario license (other than a G1, G2, M, M1, or M2)
    • Pass a vision test.
    • Submit a valid medical report.
    • Pass a knowledge test about operating large trucks and tractor-trailer combinations. 
    • Pass a road test using a vehicle that meets the requirements for a Class F license.

If you are 18 to 64 years old :

  • Drivetest commercial license package (paid to Drivetest; includes 1 knowledge test attempt and 1 road test attempt): $122.75
  • each additional knowledge test attempt (paid to Drivetest): $23.75
  • each additional road test attempt (paid to Drivetest): $99.00

If you are 65 to 79 years old :

  • Drivetest commercial license package (paid to Drivetest; includes 1 knowledge test attempt and 1 road test attempt): $37.75
  • each additional knowledge test attempt (paid to Drivetest): $23.75
  • each additional road test attempt (paid to Drivetest): $14.00
